Doc. PhDr. Markéta Pitrová, Ph. D.

Markéta Pitrová

Vice-dean for development and external affairs at the Faculty of Social Studies MU, and assistant professor at the Department of International Relations and European Studies at the Faculty of Social Studies MU. After studying political science at the Faculty of Arts MU and completing her post-graduate doctoral studies at the Faculty of Social Studies MU, she joined the Department of International Relations and European Studies as an expert on European integration. She specializes in political development of the EU, its institutional issues, theory of integration process, questions of the so-called EU constitution, and EU expansion. She is author, co-author, and editor of book, studies, and articles. Books: Institucionální struktura EU [Institutional Structure of the EU] (1999), Rozšiřování ES/EU [ES/EU Expansion] (ed. with P. Fiala, 2002), Institucionální struktura Evropské unie. Vliv integračních paradigmat na výstavbu institucí [Institutional Structure of the European Union: Influence of integration paradigms on institution building] (2002), Evropská unie [The European Union] (with P. Fiala, 2003). Since 2001 she has also been member of Team Europe at the Embassy of the European Commission in the Czech Republic.
