Studied political science and history at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno. Since 1996 he has served as assistant professor at the Department of Social Science, Faculty of Command and Staff at the Military Academy in Brno, in 2003-2004 as its director. In October 2004 he became an assistant professor at the Department of International Relations and European Studies, Faculty of Social Studies, Masaryk University. In December 2006 he became [assistant professor] in the field of political science. His thesis was “Konec Německa jako civilní mocnosti? Německé vojenské operace v zahraničí za vlád rudo-zelené koalice v letech 1998 – 2005”. The End of Germany as a Non-Military Power? German military operations abroad under the red-green coalition 1998 – 2005]. He has taken the international courses “1st Security Policy and Defense Management” (Center for Defense Studies in Aberdeen and Center for European Security Studies in Groningen for the Military Academy in Brno) and “Leaders for the 21st Century Course 99-2“ (George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies). He specializes in history of international relations, international security organization, security policy in Germany and the Czech Republic, civilian affairs and democratic control of the army, and history of military conflict. He is author of three monographs, more than thirty academic articles and studies in the Czech Republic and abroad, dozens of educational texts and opinion pieces, and implementer of the GA CR project “Adaptation of NATO” and GA AV CR Civilian control and democratic oversight of the Czech Armed Forces.
