Language requirements

The language of instruction in Flanders is Dutch. Hence, most undergraduate courses at UA are taught in Dutch only! Nevertheless, professors often allow international students to take their examinations in English. Research and/or library work can be done in English (and French).

In order to attend the courses successfully, students are strongly advised to sign up for the Erasmus Intensive Language Course (EILC) in Dutch that is organised before the start of each semester. Erasmus students can apply for an EILC scholarship, which allows them to participate for free. More information can be found in our Fact Sheet enclosed.

A sound knowledge of English is required when studying in English or when doing research in English. More info: http://www.ua.ac.be/main.aspx?c=.ENGLISH&n=43535.

Admission by the faculty of Medicine

Medicine students who plan on doing a study period, inclusive a clinical training need to be accepted by the faculty of Medicine well before the Application deadlines of 15th June 2010 for the 1st semester and full year students and 15th November 2010 for 2nd semester students! They need to contact Ms. Tina De Roeck (tina.deroeck@ua.ac.be  – tel: +32 3 265 26 37) for further information on training possibilities.

Once the students have returned their application forms, they will receive a welcome package with specific information on the university and city of Antwerp, student activities.... Meanwhile, they can consult our website http://www.ua.ac.be/internationalexchange for practical information on their exchange.

Don't hesitate to contact me for further information!
